If anybody's interested, Norway is the physically largest team in World Cup history. Average 6'2" and 185.

They won't win the tournament, but they'll win the fight afterwards.

Hoping for a Sweden win, because I detest Koeman and VanDick

Nice kit, Sweden. Although the shorts are a bit off-colour...

Go Blues!!!

Well, that was far too easy.

That pillock Potter in charge of them...

I turning this off. Too many Red Shite players.

Sweden very poor, Isak hasn't touched the ball, and you're probably right Michael!

Sunderland rubbing their hands with glee. Their £20m investment in Brobbey, increasing with every goal.
Andrew Merrick
8 Posted 20/06/2026 at 18:57:20
Yes Jack, two well finished goals, could you see Barry doing that? Holding players off, making the ball his, and finishing? Nah..
A good buy, as opposed to a good bye 😀

Sweden's Ayari looks a player. Brighton paid AIK £4m, 3 years ago, Loaned him to Blackburn for a season and now he's worth £20m plus. That's the way to do it.

Sounds like we need punch and Judy scouting fior us there Jack lol

The Dutch playing some cracking football.
As much as I hate to admit it Gakpo is a mustard player.

Summerville too, another one our wonderful scouts missed out on when they were busying themselves across Europe
Jack Convery
13 Posted 20/06/2026 at 19:56:21
We can forget Summerville. Not that Everton were ever likely interested in him. Too young, too skillful and scores goals.

TransfrMarkt value him at £35M, well that's now increased.

Anyone else fed up of our joke of a club?

Nothing wrong with that goal. Should have stood.

Who's the worst and best pundit match commentator co host - I'll start - Shearer the worst for me, too up his own arse and why does nobody in the production team tell him he's shouts a lot !
The best is McCoist - quick to spot tactical changes etc and a great sense of humour.
Paul Griffiths
16 Posted 20/06/2026 at 21:32:19
I like Chris Sutton, Oliver.

Great game this. Two teams really going for it.

Ivory Coast are lovely to watch.
Jeff Armstrong
18 Posted 20/06/2026 at 22:05:37
Efan Ekoku is by far the best pundit, despite his 4 goal salvo for Norwich at Goodison Park.
Paul Griffiths

Thanks for the reminder Jeff.

Good co - commentator though, and a scouser too, pity he’s RS though!

Ivory Coast running Germany ragged here.
David West
22 Posted 20/06/2026 at 22:17:30
Lee Dixon.. the absolute worst, most boring, miserable, voice like his woke up with a hangover after a 3 day bender, no enthusiasm, makes a boss game seem like the the most boring you've ever watched.

Don't mind danny Murphy to be fair, but warnock I can't stand !!
Paul Griffiths
23 Posted 20/06/2026 at 22:20:47
Reach for the mute button when Osman speaks. Mind you, he had the best headmaster of all for dour and dreary.
Jeff Armstrong
24 Posted 20/06/2026 at 22:24:46
Cannot abide Danny Murphy tbh, Shearer is mogodon on sleeping tablets.

Ban all RS, Andros was okay tonight.
David West
25 Posted 20/06/2026 at 22:28:28
When you've got Steven Warnock trying to explain why a World Cup playing player should be doing this or should be doing that, I just think...

"You're Steven fucking Warnock!!!! Not Cafu!!"
Paul Griffiths
26 Posted 20/06/2026 at 22:31:04
Sweet finish that.
Jeff Armstrong
27 Posted 20/06/2026 at 22:36:39
Nagelsman has got bigger manboobs than Jordan, and they're going out!

I'm here all week... 😅
Paul Griffiths

He's shacked up with a reporter isn't he Jeff? Lena, I think. Not the 99 Luftballons one.

Another great finish by Undav. I bet our crack recruitment team are getting the offer ready. 29 is in the Moyes range, just.

Kuntz springs to mind . . .

Stefan Kuntz, good full back
Paul Griffiths
37 Posted 20/06/2026 at 23:04:48
He didn't turn right to shake the hand of the Ivory Coast's gaffer Andrew E., but headed straight to his players.

Nice story Tony. I also remember how reciprocal we were in flocking in droves to the Hofbrauhaus for the strippers and steins before the Derby.
Jeff Armstrong

You can just tell Nagelsman is all show and bravado, Those players don’t need coaching, they’re all top players anyway, they work it out for themselves on the pitch
Nagelsman just makes subs with good players replacing good players, then takes all the credit, he is deffo a prick.
And his first name is Julien, so there you go.

Brighton bought Undav in Jan 2022 for £7m and sold him in August 2024 to Stuttgart for almost £27m.

The youg lad in Ivory Coast midfield, Christ Inao Oulaï, is 20 and plays for Trabzonspor. Price £23m as of now. He cost Trabzonspor £5m in July 2024. What the fack are the scouts at EFC doing because they can't be out there scouting. The lad is another Kante in the making.

and yes the German manager is a deffo tit.
Jeff Armstrong
40 Posted 20/06/2026 at 23:15:58
The pass from Nmecha for the winner was brilliant, now why the fuck is he not paying for EFC?
Come on scouts get your finger out.
Paul Griffiths
41 Posted 20/06/2026 at 23:16:12
I'd forgotten about Brighton Jack. He didn't really catch the eye there did he: 5 goals in 22 appearances over two seasons (I just checked). But he still went for around four times the fee Brighton forked out and he is scoring over one in two games at Stuttgart,

Mike (1), never heard the saying “It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.”?

A saying that possibly originated in the good ole US of A, but one I wouldn’t dismiss out of hand.
Paul Griffiths
43 Posted 20/06/2026 at 23:18:47
Nmecha is valued around 60 million E but Dortmund are said to want double that. Sigh.
Jack Convery
44 Posted 20/06/2026 at 23:19:25
Jeff @ 18. I was there when 10 canarys and Ekoku beat us. He went to Liverpool College and is an excellent pundit.
John Collins

Paul.

Best player I've seen up to now.
Paul Griffiths
46 Posted 20/06/2026 at 23:42:57
John, I'm really looking forward to watching Japan later - 11PM my time. They play like the USA but have better players in my opinion. We should be trying to buy any Japanese player who is signed by Celtic (and Brighton).

Olise has been the stand-out player for me so far.

'merican commentators/pundits/production continue to drive me nuts. Man of the Match has now become The Superior Player of the Match.
Paul Griffiths
47 Posted 20/06/2026 at 00:04:21
'kin Hell, after the season(s) they have had, Spuds apparently bidding around 80 million for Tonali in the same week that they shelled out 52 million for van Hecke.

Spurs are not in Europe. Spurs were some way below us in the league. But they seem to have money to burn and players want to go there.

Was at the Netherlands vs Sweden match. The Swedish defense was more like the Swiss defense...in terms of cheese. They couldn't stop the Dutch at all.

Other than that, all I could think about was how much Sunderland is going to make on the Brobbey sale. The guy was a beast.
Paul Griffiths
49 Posted 20/06/2026 at 00:44:48
You're in Houston Bill (48)! Any chance that you might grab a chat some time with Saint Daniel the Absent? You might need to remind him who Everton are but maybe you could give him advice and a common sense talking to mate.

Somerville was also on our radar Bill when he headed south to West Ham. We had a chance then but not now.

Joy watching Japan play. 1-0. in third minute. Free flowing footy. High press. Working hard for each other on and off the ball.

Lovely second goal.

52 Posted 21/06/2026 at 05:40:25
Japan are an absolute joy to watch, full of energy, pressing and they play as a team, no individual stars. They rely on speed and skill, not brute physicality.
Paul Griffiths
53 Posted 21/06/2026 at 06:15:36
Spot on Ajay.

Our lads should have to eat Sushi for lunch all week long at the Farm.

A third absolutely lovely Japanese goal. Wonderful movement and passing and runners off the ball.

4-0, just great to watch. And this is game 1000 in the World Cup.

That ball from Nmecha for Undav's winning goal was just incredible, talk about vision, pace and accuracy. And Undav took it brilliantly.

I loved his first goal too. Watched the brilliantly crossed ball in all the way -- volley into the roof of the net. Fantastic.

I've always said we should be shopping in the Japanese, Korean market.

Hardworking, technically gifted football players, for me we've spent too long looking in the wrong areas.
Paul Griffiths
59 Posted 21/06/2026 at 09:22:27
I can't remember you ever saying that once Jim - 56 - FFS. Not once. Never. Show me I'm wrong. I, on the other hand, have been saying thiss for a long while.

Paul

I spent most of last summer saying we should have been going after Kubo instead of Dibling but was told on here, why would Kubo come to Everton, and we couldn't afford him.

Well we paid £40 million for Dibling so I'll say we could definitely have bought Kubo.

There are probably many of a similar ilk bit our scouts are shite.

Paul & Jim, I've been saying it since Park signed for Utd. and I was living in Seoul and saw the impact he had over there along with Son and that bloke at Reading

My favourite German player was Berndt Haas.

Seoul. I spent three weeks there - only three, admittedly - and I really did not like the place EM.
