Tottenham U21s 0 - 2 Everton U21s
Everton U21s have travelled to Stevenage where they are taking on Tottenham Hotspur U21s in Premier League 2 on this Friday evening.
The game was goalless until the 72nd minute when Braiden Graham did it again, giving Everton the lead with 20 minutes to go.
With Spurs pressing for the equalizer, Everton broke down the right and the ball was leapt upon by Braiden Graham who finished with an exquisite chip over the Spurs goalie and into the back of the net.
Spurs hit the bar late on, but the irrepressible Braiden Graham was not to be denied all the headlines with two more excellent goals to his name.
Everton U21s: Pickford, Samuels-Smith, van Schoor, Welch, Thomas, Bates, Benjamin, Gomez (60' Akarakiri), Sherif (60' Boakye), Olayiwola (82' Davis), Graham.
Subs not Used: Lukjanciks, Ebere.

You can just imagine the wonderful manager we have discussing Paul Tait's recommendation that he is now ready for the Premier League...
"Och, ya cannay be all there, he's just a wee bairn fresh outta skule."

I've made it abundantly clear I don't like Moyes... and this is one of the reasons that became abundantly apparent when he had the tremendous talent that was Wayne Rooney gifted to him.
What more does this kid have to do? Oh, I know... he doesn't do his fair share of defending.
Drives me to absolute despair.

Aznou must be gagging for another go, Tyler looks lost and dejected...
We need more energy, young and hungry players, but old school leopards don't change theirs spots overnight...

Physically slight can be the only reason.

Maybe Braiden would, maybe he wouldn't, how will we ever know if he never gets a sniff?

It's a issue Mark (17) if we have no credible back up. Also, I am not prepared at this moment to put my complete faith in Barry. Do you remember Beto's Indian Summer about this time last year?

There may be a case for adding Graham to the squad for the reasons you say, I'm just saying we have bigger problems. It would be preferable if there were options in these positions from the junior teams, and this is more urgent than finding a back up for Barry.

The right-back situation is a crime and now as they put us in low cruise-control they seem to think that it is satisfactory to limp to the end of the season with Patterson who was ignored completely and disparaged quite disgracefully on here by some and a clearly inadequate O'Brien.
I don't know what Mykolenko needs to do to be replaced/dropped. He is clearly not the quality left-back we need and it is yet another botched job of our crack recruiters that we seem to have no seemingly viable alternative at the moment.

Maybe it would be good for some, not other? Brazilian teams don't seem to send many of their youngsters out on loan.
Ok so people will say, but the premier league is tougher, faster etc. But I would rather see some of our promising youngsters given a chance than see them all out on loan.
As the old saying goes, if you are good enough, you are old enough. Unless you play for Everton of course.
Have a look at them and then decide whether they need a loan, or not. Don't just automatically send them out

They sell them to European teams instead.

Annika @ 25:How many? probably a few more than will think the cure for all things is to 'Bulk Up' You can bulk him up all you like...(has he even stopped growing yet)...but if the 'Kirkdale to Birkdale' ratio is wrong then it's all, for nothing.

Does the ghost of Rooney haunt us? You gotta be 16 and built like a brick shithouse with commendable facial hair to get a lookin.
Learn from an exception, HA, mind matters, sometimes more than muscle, give BG some minutes. He looks to be instinctive and a natural up front. Some just are. What's the alternative? A dozen more minutes of shite from Beto?
Moyes, call SAF andask him - who never shied away from playing youth - what he thinks.

Anyone who has, what type of player is he,goals apart.?

From what I've seen him, I don't think he's physically up to playing in the Premier league, bar a couple of minutes in a hail Mary sub searching for a goal.
All well and good saying you don't need to be a physical specimen to make it. But the facts are it is a very physical league, and if youre not up to it, injuries usually follow.
Rohl is a lot further ahead than Graham. Played a bit, and picked up hernia injury. Graham is 5ft 9, and pretty slight. A regular goal scorer, they will be wanting to build him out to handle, very quick & big defenders that will knock him about.
Barry took a bit of a battering in his first 10-15 games. He was 6ft 5, and played way more games in league & tournament football.
The rest of football hasn't come in for him yet. That's probably a better yardstick than ToffeeWeb punters. Everyone will know about him. His stats arent kept secret for Everton fans only..

He treated him perfectly and obviously didnt want him burnt out by the time he was 21.
As for this kid Graham, only seen clips of him on YouTube so couldn't really comment, I'm sure if he was ready then Moyes would have him in and around the 1st team.
And Michael even in print can we stop trying to mimic Moyes accent, hes from Glasgow not some back of beyond Scottish island, it's quite boring.
35 Posted 31/01/2026 at 10:15:32
Moyes didnt want him burnt out at 21?
We sold him when he was 18 mate

Personally, have only seen highlights of one match, the 3-2 victory over Millwall in which Braiden scored a cracking volley. I'll search out more.
I am in the camp of give the guy a try, perhaps for the last 20 mins or so.

Braiden Graham is playing above his years, as are a good few.
Hes a slight, skilful player, very good finisher.
Early days he was peripheral, easily knocked off the ball, and lost it a lot trying things, sometimes in the wrong part of the pitch.
Things have, and are changing for him, he is gaining confidence. More involved. Perhaps because he has been training with the first team, he is maturing.
Theres a lot of development needed, he could do with adding a little physicality.
Id imagine there would be a queue down the road to take him on loan, but also wonder how he would fare against some of the more agricultural defenders in lower divisions.
I dont think weve had a more assured finisher on our books in quite some time.

How many times over the last 20 years when seeing a striker go through 1v1 are you confident of a goal? Lukaku and the Yak. This lad has that split second calmness before finishing. He is a natural. He isn't a Rooney as in all round footballer, he is the fox in the box type.
Goals win games, we seriously lack goals across the team. Give this lad a chance and he will at least test the keeper.
For Braiden to make it with us the manager would have to change his tactics. He isn't going to play as the lone striker due to his size. Play a 3 up front and he would excel. I can't ever see him making it here unless tactics change. If he drops down the pyramid he will have to chose wisely.
He played left mid last night and ran onto both through balls to finish. Playing him there long term will stunt his goal scoring threat.
He has lots of potential, do we have the coaches at the club to nurture and make him premier league ready? Not so sure.
39 Posted 31/01/2026 at 11:11:30
He could play wide of a three on the right.
40 Posted 31/01/2026 at 13:08:56
I think Walter knew about football, Moyes didnt know where, when or how to play Wayne who knew he was good enough to play in the first team after train going with them for a couple of months and after another month knew he was better than most of them.

Maybe because of the 1000s coming to see our special talent — Braiden Graham, incidentally spelt Brayden on our official website. I doubt he will be on the bench tomorrow!
