David Moyes keeps faith with the same Everton XI that won at Newcastle United on Saturday for tonight's clash against Burnley at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

After scoring the second goal in that 3-2 success at St James' Park, Beto once again leads the Blues' attack, flanked by wingers Iliman Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the No.10 role.

James Garner – making his 100th start in all competitions for Everton – partners Idrissa Gana Gueye in defensive midfield, while the Toffees' backline remains Jake O'Brien, captain James Tarkowski, Jarrad Branthwaite, Vitalii Mykolenko and keeper Jordan Pickford.

First Half

Dewsbury-Hall did his now customary up & under to get things underway, and the Blues continued to move the ball around in the Burnley half until a turnover led to a quick Clarets breakaway but the final shot was weak.

McNeil#s ball control was questionable in the early exchanges but Beto somehow notched the first Everton corner. Gorner looked for Branthwaite but Foster got to it first. Beto forced another corner, played out Gana whose utterly abysmal attempted shot should see these efforts outlawed.

Ndiaye jinked his way forward but gave the ball away. Everton tried to rebuild again but it was wasteful, Gana booting the ball out of play.

Everton: Pickford, O'Brien, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko, Gana, Garner, McNeil, Dewsbury-Hall, Ndiaye, Beto.

Subs: Travers, Patterson, Keane, Barry, George, Dibling, Röhl, Iroegbunam, Armstrong.

Burnley: Dubravka; Humphreys, Worrall, Estève; Walker, Florentino, Ugochukwu, Lucas Pires; Mejbri, Anthony; Foster.

Subs: Weiss, Hartman, Bruun Larsen, Tchaouna, Ekdal, Ward-Prowse, Laurent, Barnes, McMahon-Brown.

Referee: Tim Robinson. VAR: Neil Davies.

Same team, hopefully a home victory

Well I'd rather have seen George's pace for McNeil tonight but Moyes has had a lot of stick for changing a winning team in the past so let's see.

The mighty Burnley so yes, we must set up to ensure we are not overrun.

Disappointing.

Would be nice for once to win at home and two in a row.

They looked pretty good at Newcastle but Burnley will pack their half and make it difficult for the Blues.

We need to score early to force them to come out of their shell.

They are sure fire relegation fodder but that's when Everton usually come unstuck.

However, a Euro place is still possible but they need to get a run of decent results although some tough ones coming up.

Very disappointed in McNeill getting a game again. Thought he was atrocious at the weekend cconstantly losing possession and the only thing he did was have a shot that luckily Pope made a hash of and Beto was quick enough to follow up on.

Burnley’s recent away form is decent, this could be a horrible game. Bring George on early in the second half and watch him score. Would like to see Röhl at some stage too.

I heard it was touch and go with Garner and O’Brien for tonight’s game, they came through fitness tests to get the nod.

Also heard the Derby game is now being played on Sunday the 19th. April with a kick off at 2-00pm.

That’s how I feel about going to the game now I have heard O’Brien, is playing fullback Dave. Hopefully he scores and we play well and win, but I do worry about us attacking down the right tonight now though.

At least five other players should start in preference to McNeil.

Just seen the line up.

That's me giving it a miss.

Did you say that on Saturday though John?

I know I did and look what happened!

(Ps - I’ve not seen it myself as I’m at dinner with my boss)

I don't like seeing O'Brien at RB when we are playing on home where there is more attacking onus on us. Still don't know what Patterson did wrong in the games he had to play for us.

Sorry for the doubters but I see no problem with maintaining a winning team, that in the last game showed the winning desire that had been missing from previous games.

I am one of D.Moyes critics and am surprised he has not made changes, I remember the away game at Forest and the comments then were to keep the same team that won for the next game, and then he made changes and we lost. You do not bring stability making changes for every game.

Patterson is a bit of a Michael Keane defensively with too many lapses of concentration as noted by 3 or 4?managers now.

He is ok going forward and if we played wingbacks he would be more suitable but O’Brien is quick and good in the air so gets the nod ( pardon the pun)
