Moyes pessimistic despite wins

David Moyes was clearly refusing to get carried away in his pre-match pronouncements ahead of Sunday's game with Stoke City, suggesting that recent wins after a successions of losses "might just be putting on a bit of make-up".

The Blues have won successive games against Wolves and Bolton and moved into the top half of the Premier League table, but the manager put a realistic spin on those two results.

?If results had gone against us last week and we'd lost, we could have ended up fourth bottom,? he said.

?We've moved up the table but it might just be putting on a bit of make-up at the moment.

?We've got Stoke and then Arsenal, so it could easily turn around again.?

He struck a more upbeat tone in comments on evertonfc.com, however, saying that he is seeing signs of improvement on the field.

?I have to look at it correctly and we have won two good games. I can see signs that the players are playing better, signs that confidence is coming back but they are only signs and there are still bits of the game that I am not happy with and we have to do better.

?I thought we played quite well against Bolton. We are lacking a bit of creativity in wide areas which we have maybe had in the past. In the main we have gone with Tim (Cahill) and Louis (Saha) up front to try and win us games."
