Sunday night's World Cup action features some fascinating clashes, including England's visit to the iconic Azteca Stadium.
First up, it's Brazil vs Norway, as the five-time world champions take on Erling Haaland and co. Brazil have not quite convinced under ex-Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti and were fortunate to sneak past a valiant Japan side in the Round of 32.
That said, Vinicius Junior has finally come alive in a major tournament for the South Americans, with Matheus Cunha and Bruno Guimaraes providing able support.
Norway are back on this stage for the first time in 28 years, but have impressed to date. It helps, of course, to have Haaland in your ranks, with the Manchester City goal machine making a push for the Golden Boot.
In the early hours, Jordan Pickford and England must handle altitude and a hostile home crowd if they are to progress to the quarter-finals.
Mexico are unbeaten in 13 years in competitive games and the Azteca, and have lost only twice in 89 games since its opening in 1966. However, the calibre of opposition has somewhat shewed those statistics...

Big break for the US.

This forced the Portuguese National Team to get back on the team bus and make the journey from Liverpool to London. The Portuguese players ended up only getting 2-3 hours of sleep, heavily decreasing them from their peak performance.
During the match, it was evident the Portuguese weren't playing to their full strength due to the lack of sleep, which eventually caused England's star striker Bobby Charlton to net two goals. The game finished 2-1, with Eusebio getting a late goal.

He never said it was for safety reasons. He said he did it for "commercial reasons"... in other words, he wanted to generate more money. There's never been any secret as to how and why the decision came about.
There was clearly a measure of greed involved in the decision, but the England players had no say in it, neither did the manager. They too had their plans disrupted.
Portugal were exhausted after their lung-bursting efforts to turn around a 3-0 North Korean lead but the fact is they were just not up to beating that England team. The late consolation goal they got from a Eusebio penalty was about as much as they deserved. They were pretty much a one man team and England were better in just about every other position.
I don't see any England fans whinging and whining about cheating.
The US can't be accused of cheating simply because a controversial decision has gone their way.
The players and the managers have no say in these decisions. They simply have to live with the rough and the smooth.

Suspension served in friendlies for Ronaldo.
It's bent, mate.
22 Posted 05/07/2026 at 20:28:25
"If Cristiano Ronaldo commits another infringement of a similar nature and gravity during the probationary period," FIFA said in a statement, then the remaining two games will be activated.

Ronaldo is a money spinner for the tournament, Liam, they acted accordingly.

I'm at the end of my tether with World Cup crappiness -- boring backpassing and loads of cheating by players and officials too... end of!

Stop embarrassing yourself. You accuse others of Whinging and whining about cheating. Yet here you are SIXTY years on. Still bitching about a conversation between Ramsey and Rouse that exist only in your head.
I don't care about England winning the world cup, but it does make me smile how much it upsets you.
Both teams had to adjust to a decision based on pure greed - England couldnt train either and also had to change hotels at less than a days notice.
The game has always been run by rich greedy men who have a vested interest, but I wont be buying into the idiotic notion that the team that benefits most from their decisions (England in this case) are the cheating party.
I've seen the tackle by Balogan, I think its stinks that the suspension is overturned but the suggestion that the Yank team has somehow cheated is for the birds A little like your claim that England cheated in 1966. That team won it simply by beating everything in front of them. Your 60 years of bitterness will never change that,

John Murray
BBC football correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Live at Mexico City Stadium
The news is kick-off will be delayed due to severe weather. The expected kick-off time is 7pm in Mexico City, which is 02:00 BST in the UK.
Here's the official statement regarding kick-off:
Due to adverse weather conditions in Mexico City, including risk caused by lightning in the vicinity of the stadium, the kick-off of the World Cup 2026 round of 16 match between Mexico and England has been delayed to 19.00 local time (21:00 EDT). The safety and security of all individuals is Fifas priority. We thank all fans for their understanding and cooperation.
That's 2AM in Blighty right?
If it goes back another hour will pubs have to close before the penalty shoot-out at 5AM?

Battling performance with smatterings of real class. Saka looks a shadow of what he can be when full of confidence but put kept it simple and put in a brilliant cross for the first goal.
Quansahs technique for the sending off was diabolical for what should have been a pretty routine sliding challenge.
Thought JP was trying to coax Jimenez into going the way he did for the penalty but then gave himself too much ground to make up. Glad hes getting so much support from the pundits for this game.
To go all the way is going to require a lot more 100% full blooded effort as the route is looking to be exceptionally difficult. This squad looks like it might have enough with the required mentality to make that happen.
129 Posted 06/07/2026 at 05:09:54
Ooh I can't kick wi me weaker foot. I'll just tap it there. Ohh who are we playing? Are they in green? Ohh he bit that a bit ard, no need for that. I'll get me one back, take that! Who me ref, red card, what for? I'll go and stand next to J H, I like him.

Any hint of favouritism and Belgium should do a Senegal.
