Another episode of "Where's Jarrad going?"
Seems it's time for another episode of "Where's Jarrad going?" as a slew of clickbait sites vie with each other to predict the future of Everton's bright young centre-back when the transfer window opens in the summer.
CaughtOffside favour the Real Madrid connection provided by Carlo Ancelotti and his well-known admiration for the Cumbrian giant, boldly stating that "Jarrad Branthwaite could move to Real Madrid".
Real Madrid are keen to sign a new centre-back this summer amid an injury crisis in defence and Jarrad Branthwaite has been discussed, TEAMtalk claims, but there has been no concrete approach to the player or Everton about a transfer
Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti gave Branthwaite his Premier League debut when he was Everton’s manager.

Meanwhile, The Hard Tackle regurgitates the now stale claim that both Manchester United and Liverpool are interested in signing the Everton star.
The club are believed to value Branthwaite at over £70M. The defender is under contract until 2027, but the club are thought to be considering opening talks aimed at extending an improved deal for Jarrad to consider, so they remain in a strong negotiating position to rebuff other clubs and retain the excellent defender as they look to rebuild a better side in the summer.

There was no major selloff at Roma when the Friedkins took over, and that club was in significant financial trouble at the time.

Reserves (Sheedy, Harper) and fading stars (Beardsley) or via another club (McMahon, Johnson D) is OK but remember the reaction when Barmby moved to his "childhood club"?

As part of any culture shift we need to be renegotiating contracts for players we want to keep at the latest when there is 2 years left on their current deal.

Maybe its just me but he has not shone so brightly as last year.
If I had to bet on him being an Everton player or not 1 year from now I'd say not. It's very hard to know though, there's that many factors involved.
I don't think him going to Real would be a wise choice.

Only 4 CBs have ever been sold for over €80m. They are:
Maguire to Man Utd €87m
DeLigt to Juve €85m
Van Dijk to the RS €84m
Fofana to Chelsea €80m
But it's also worth noting that no-one has spent €80m on any player this season, whatever position.
What does all this mean?
Well ultimately the price is set by the need (or not) to sell - and competition from around the market.
We shouldn't need to sell any more for PSR or solvency reasons, but we may "need" to sell to fund a rebuild. The Roma comparison makes sense Mike but their circumstances were very very different to ours.
If he is to be sold and the fee is to be £80m or more (and you'd hope it would be) there's only about 3 to 5 clubs in Europe who could afford that.

Remember we're losing Keane, (Holgate), Seamus & Young and have zero left full back cover.
Yes we can look at free transfers, there'll be a few decent picking around for right full back for example but that tends to go hand in hand with larger personal terms.

I live in NZ now and years ago was bored in a GP's waiting room. The magazine headline said 'Why Jonah hates the All Black's coach' - full article on page 6. I duly flicked to page 6 and read; it's nothing to do with
...(Coaches name), just that Jonah prefers to drive to the game in his BMW blah blah series!!

Mark #5, it's TW's Cumbrian duke Keith Harrison who knows the family. He'll have gotten the message across.
Brian #11, that's what I'm betting on as well.

We have 5 top class players and a few squad players, add 4 or 5 good quality players with a striker the main focus. Then we have a foundation to build on, add 2 or 3 quality players every year. It seems the new owners cast their net far and wide looking for new talent; so far: Premier League football, new stadium, some talented players and more than capable owners.
Next season could be one hell of a season for Everton FC. I cant wait.
People can say what ever they want about Moyes, at least they're playing some nice football at times and have regained their never-say-die attitude. They have become a team that fights till the end and doesn't cave in like they used to. Well done, team and Moyes.

£80M and absolutely no less before I'd even start to entertain such a conversation.

If he stays we need to get him a new contract with a £120M buyout clause.

Stand up, Mr Thelwell, and put me and Mr Branthwaite at ease.

As others have said, this summer may not be the best market and, as he is young, he may fancy another season at a club where he will be guaranteed to start every match.
A bid of £75M+ would be hard to turn down though and would be very helpful with PSR and rebuilding the rest of the team.

The figure that I seem to remember being bandied about was £80m+. United baulked at that, offering a derisory amount for his services.
There is no doubt that City and the RS will need some rebuilding this summer, but would they come anywhere near our valuation? Didn't Vermin V Dyke cost £75m or so we were led to believe?
Anyway, we have JB under contract until 2027, BUT talent and promise can soon disappear as we well know. God forbid that anything happens to him but we have seen careers ended in a blink of an eyelid.
Jarrad's future lies in his own hands, he has the world at his feet and Everton would dearly like to hang on to him. However £80m buys a lot of talent and players.
Sadly, I believe that Everton will part company with Jarrad over the summer. We are in a re-building phase and we are well known for selling our top talents.
I cannot see him going to either City or the Shite. If I was him I would opt to get to Real Madrid and prove that he is a true Galactico.
