Wait a minute… 😜
4 Posted 13/10/2025 at 11:27:34
We need continuity regardless of manager.
Moyes has brought in his trusted people but in doing so he weakens the club and strengthens his own hand.
Moyes will be sacked in 2 years time and then we start again replacing the cronies he brought in.
If we are ever to get back to the top things like this don't happen.
It's such an obvious show of nepotism.

Any top team or club have a solid structure underneath the usual coaching teams.
In our case Moyes has restructured the lot and brought in his mates and relatives.
Charlie Adam as set piece coach brought in by Moyes agent brother.
I don't get why people think it's not a big deal.
Proper scouting is the difference between success and failure.

9 Posted 13/10/2025 at 15:23:42
A more grown up scenario is Moyes leaving by mutual consent with a successor ready to step in take the team to the next stage - one that, (barring an absolute collapse in the intervening period which plenty on here would love), a scenario the Friedkins will know makes sound financial and managerial sense.
As for replacing the entire coaching team with his “mates and relatives” - that's just utter nonsense.
10 Posted 13/10/2025 at 15:24:47
Moyes jnr is not part of his coaching his team, this is an entirely different branch which needs to be autonomous and best in class.
Moyes jnr apparently only got the job at West Ham through his dad. West Ham's recruitment during that period was dreadful and are still suffering from that period now.
I wouldn't know what level he worked at or how significant his input was, but when we were told we would be getting a modern, data driven, high end recruitment department and the likes of Hammond were apparently given roles due to being best in class, this appointment seems counter intuitive as his experience only came through nepotism and he hasn't exactly been sought after by anyone since.
11 Posted 13/10/2025 at 15:27:16
12 Posted 13/10/2025 at 15:28:58
I don't think it's a good idea to give him a job at Everton.
13 Posted 13/10/2025 at 15:35:48
Maybe he'll find the next Barry.
14 Posted 13/10/2025 at 16:53:43
Not technical director and all round fuckwit Tim Steidten who fell out with every manager he worked with and was actually responsible for their terrible recruitment?
Okay....
15 Posted 13/10/2025 at 16:57:43
If his son proves able to find a young Messi or a Ronaldo, Moyes senior can open up a sperm bank as far as I'm concerned.
16 Posted 13/10/2025 at 17:15:46
I'm not sure West Ham fans would agree that Steidten was the major problem as he did have a couple of successes like Kudus.
Moyes like here wanted total control of things and you can't put the likes of Mavripanos and Ward Prowse who they are still to this day stuck with at the hands of the DOF
Unfortunately posters so immersed in their love of Moyes seems like their love of Everton is secondary.
So Jake had Benitez or Dyche had their family members without any level of success or criteria (his son was apparently a failed agent) join in an important sector you wouldn't bat an eyelid?
17 Posted 13/10/2025 at 18:23:54
As to your weird Benitez or Dyche question, no, I wouldn't have given a flying one.
But I take it that you were apoplectic when you discovered that Ancelotti appointed his son as assistant manager when at Everton?
18 Posted 13/10/2025 at 18:52:55
He looked after himself, just like he's now looking after his son, and football is just another industry where some people will get well looked after because they know the right people.
19 Posted 13/10/2025 at 19:17:05
There is no way that a professional relationship can exist between family members.
20 Posted 13/10/2025 at 19:22:55
Moyes won't have been able to do this without it first passing the sniff test with the Friedkins.
21 Posted 13/10/2025 at 19:34:04
Had we announced that we were taking any high level scout or transfer specialist from West Hams recruitment team (who was not Moyes son) the common response on these pages would understandably have been wtf.
Nothing weird about the question I was asking would you have been happy with an unqualified inexperienced individual who had worked only in an unsuccessful department to be given a key role at Everton.
As for your retort the phrase "I wasn't born yesterday" came to mind as regards ToffeeWeb it seems like you were. I won't go there again with Ancelotti only to say his son unlike Moyes Jr was at least a highly qualified individual with top honours making your point completely defunct.
Moreover he was employed in a department which his success is tied to his employer ie Carlo.
22 Posted 13/10/2025 at 19:47:01
But looking at Moyes Jnr, when you look at it more closely, especially as I don't see a CV that would justify giving him a scouting job here, I'm surprised the owners have approved it.
23 Posted 13/10/2025 at 20:11:35
1. Nepotism doesn't exactly scream good governance or management. I had hoped we were past all that sort of thing.
2. Naming a son after the father can seem a bit weird, but in this case just seems a very Moyes-like lack of imagination. David Moyes Jr is not exactly Neymar Jr is it?
24 Posted 13/10/2025 at 20:24:55
25 Posted 13/10/2025 at 20:46:24
I wonder what the reaction on here will be.

29 Posted 13/10/2025 at 21:21:59
Ferguson and Allardyce had sons working for them as football agents. The Redknapps. Paul Ince and Steve Bruce both had sons playing in their sides. Cruyff had his son playing for him.
You could run out of space listing everyone.
30 Posted 13/10/2025 at 23:25:48
It all might be perfectly innocent, but it not a good look is it?
So just who is 'in charge' at this new Everton?
Not 'in theory' but in actual fact.
What's the hierarchy, who reports to whom(?)
Who signs off on what?
Who gets to sack who?
Where do the various bucks stop... if indeed they do... or is it some collective circular Cabinet Responsibility bollocks.
31 Posted 14/10/2025 at 00:46:27
Ancelotti, Moyes, Fat Sam, Fergie etc forged careers over long periods of time as players, coaches and managers before they became managers of big clubs. They earned their roles.
Their sons did nothing at all other than be born. If you are a carpenter, insurance agent or plumber and run your own business, then by all means train up your kids and bring them on board.
But if you're a contracted employee of a multi-million-pound business, then it's an abuse of power to add your kid to the wage bill. If any of these jokers had pride, they'd go and prove themselves elsewhere first, then apply alongside everyone else if they get to the level where they can work with their Dad. It's just obscene.
All the aforementioned managers and multi-millionaires. If they want to get their kids some cash they can go in their own pockets. Do not take cash out of the club to enrich your offspring.
32 Posted 14/10/2025 at 01:01:16
The Friedkins approved it.
Specifically owner and chairman Dan Friedkin, who got his start in business when he was hired by his billionaire father.
It's his money paying for young Moyes's salary.
I'm bemused by all the passionate outrage here.
This is how the world works, folks.
33 Posted 14/10/2025 at 01:42:53
He's not the director of scouting. That's James Smith, Moyes's longtime friend and former Everton colleague from 15 years ago. The kid will be on his staff, not Hammond's.
34 Posted 14/10/2025 at 01:51:02
She could be covering South America for us.
35 Posted 14/10/2025 at 02:41:38
I can do that.
36 Posted 14/10/2025 at 05:42:18
37 Posted 14/10/2025 at 06:38:48
"Moyes will be sacked in 2 years time."
Or then again, he might just see his contract through to completion and leave. Like he did last time.
38 Posted 14/10/2025 at 06:48:33
Good to know there is an "effective" chain of command.

40 Posted 14/10/2025 at 09:08:06
Although, Davide is head coach at Botafago while wee Davie Jnr is languishing in the ranks of the unemployed.
What Moysey's nephews Gash and Burney, plus his pal Jamsie? Surely there's space on the payroll for them.
41 Posted 14/10/2025 at 09:59:34
Hang on, his dad was manager at all those clubs.
Thats why hes head coach at Botafogo, not a stellar footballing career - nepotism worked well for him. I doubt Baby Davies dad will manage many more clubs, but at least hes not the first and not the last kid to get a start in football through connections.
42 Posted 14/10/2025 at 10:23:40
The next phase came with the director of football which was aimed at sustainability in the modern era whereby hiring and firing of managers became rife and a more tenuous role. The likes of Wenger's and Ferguson's longevity and power don't exist at elite level anymore.
Hammond outlined that TFG were now ahead of the curve arguing that the DOF model has served it's purpose as now one role can't negotiate contracts, head up data driven scouting, recruitment, hiring and firing of managers etc. Evertons new model was apparently a new professional, best in class, cutting edge approach to the complexities of the scale of modern elite level football.
Mike's post amazes me when this flies in the face of what we were told and is the behaviour of a bygone era. Moreover it is one thing for an owner to entrust his son with his businesses since he has the endeavour and self interest to make them work as they will one day be his. It's quite another for a professional outfit to give the same luxury to an employee, a hired hand and a system which was specifically designed to operate and function independent of the coaching department, a system borne on the separation of powers. One whose job is to shape and provide for the squad in both the short and more importantly longer term which is in contrast to the coaching team who is concerned with the here and now.
43 Posted 14/10/2025 at 11:07:28
As Mike G says; The Friedkins will have signed this off, and they are nobody's fools.
44 Posted 14/10/2025 at 11:22:46
I know you are poised on TW 24 hours a day in case there is any criticism (real or imagined) for the sainted manager.
Great to see you have now expanded your brief to his extended family. Maybe you should research his family tree so you can do a thorough job.
Keep it up lad.

Best not tell the experts on ToffeeWeb about this
Perhaps David Moyes jnr us decent at his job?

Open on Moyes trying to tip-toe out of the front door of his house ('Peebles Lodge')
Morag: "HAWD ON DAVIE! WHEER D'HINK YOOR AFF TAE?"
Moyes: "Erm just aff tae Finch Farm hen, cannae keep the guys waitin'."
Morag: "Sit yer arse doon fer a wee minute Davie, ah want tae talk aboot whit yoor gonnae dae aboot this boy o' yoors sittin' aboot the hoose aww day."
Moyes: "Well whit can ah dae? The boy's useless, he couldn't kick a baw in a straight line fae-you-tae-me, he cannae coach players, av telt ye hen, there's nuthin' fer him in fitba."
Morag: "Look, ye managed tae find him a job at West Ham so find him one with this mob. Am no havin' him sittin' aboot the hose fer the next 20 years scratchin' his plums and watching hames under the hammer."
Moyes: "Aye but Sullivan was as thick as a submarine door, he wuz a piece of pish fer me tae dupe. These yanks are a different kettle o' fish."
- Morag approaches her husband and looks deadly serious -
Morag: "Davie, let's be clear, am no askin ye, am TELLIN' ye!"
- comedy pause -

48 Posted 14/10/2025 at 12:45:57
As you can see Moyes Jr was a footballing agent who had no pedigree in scouting of players and was a pawn in establishing more control for Moyes Snr.
Indeed according to West Ham the 2 primary reasons why Moyes was sacked was because results allowed to be after he refused the contract on offer. The new contract would remove Moyes control of transfers as Sullivan blamed him for poor recruitment and the removal of his son annoyed him who was viewed not fit for purpose.
I can't understand how posters who rate the manager aren't alarmed in the same way that Robert Tressell is ( a poster who is generally supportive of the manager but puts Everton first)
Have a read of this;
https://www.hammers.news/news/everton-grant-david-Moyes-wish-that-proved-the-beginning-of-the-end-for-his-time-at-west-ham/
49 Posted 14/10/2025 at 14:05:54
Eugene's right, it's probably just something to get him out of the house.
50 Posted 14/10/2025 at 15:20:53
Their recruitment is worse than ours!
Its amazing how posters say not to trust football journalists and then take what a gossip merchant has said as gospel
I mean Alan Nixon ? Formally a shareholder of proactive with Paul Stretford
51 Posted 14/10/2025 at 15:59:39
We already know as fact that Moyes had a contract on the table as Moyes himself confirmed it
We already know as fact that Moyes relationship with Steidten was strained over recruitment (he even had to move offices)
We already know as fact that West Ham sacked Moyes Jr
I can see why Moyes fanboys would refute the journalists account. But hey ho Ryan that was some bio he presented that had you salilvating, I think he took the I'm forever blowing bubbles literally
52 Posted 14/10/2025 at 16:22:08
Sacked?
He completed the term of his contract and refused to sign another one.
53 Posted 14/10/2025 at 16:22:36
By listing the clubs Davide Ancelotti has coached at - PSG, Bayern, Napoli, Everton, Real Madrid - you defeat your own argument. You see that right?
But lets test this statement out “Thats why hes head coach at Botafogo, not a stellar footballing career - nepotism worked well for him.”
Come on, share your evidence base for that statement. Give me one reputable news source that backs up your claim that his father got him the job at Botafago.
54 Posted 14/10/2025 at 16:30:46
You should read mine sometime, it always gives me a laugh! 🤣
55 Posted 14/10/2025 at 16:48:39
And I think youll find I didnt say Ancelotti got him the coaching gig at Botafogo - he got the gig by having a nepotistic career path to gain the experience to get it. Helped by his father. Like a good father should.
56 Posted 14/10/2025 at 18:56:10
Nepotism aside, I would help my own kids out if I was in a position to.
However, do you think it's a good move for the Blues to appoint Moyes son as a European scout?
I think it stinks and don't think he will add any value to our already under-performing recruitment section.
Nil satis and all of that.
57 Posted 14/10/2025 at 19:07:13
Do you want him to be a success?
58 Posted 14/10/2025 at 19:18:17
Maybe the money isn't great? I was reading Moyes wanted Mick Doherty back but he wasn't very impressed by the wages on offer, so with him getting the title of being our European scout, then maybe Eugene has got some inside information!
59 Posted 14/10/2025 at 19:28:58
If they're offering lower-end-of-scale wages, my bet is on Denmark. A lowly position in the grand scheme of things.
60 Posted 14/10/2025 at 19:33:39
His mother didn't want him sitting about the house, so getting him on an aeroplane makes a load of sense!
61 Posted 14/10/2025 at 19:35:15
62 Posted 14/10/2025 at 19:45:32
63 Posted 14/10/2025 at 19:53:18
We should be looking at Brighton's scouting network although I think they poached a couple from us!
Tony, We probably could have kept hold of Mick Doherty if we offered him enough money during Moyes's first spell with us. I think he went to Chelsea after leaving us.

66 Posted 14/10/2025 at 20:14:56
67 Posted 14/10/2025 at 20:45:31
I never asked him how much he was getting paid at Celtic, but if hes still there and hes turned Everton down, it could have only been one of two things.
Money or stability, or possibly both, but young Davie, has got the gig now, and his mother will be delighted!
Its definitely not stability because according to “LinkedIn” 😂Doherty, is currently unemployed.
68 Posted 14/10/2025 at 20:56:44
Enlighten me.
European scout for Everton implies he is going to scout around Europe for players to make Everton a better team.
Do I believe he will do that? No I don't.
69 Posted 14/10/2025 at 23:23:45
(Then you could hire Sam.)
70 Posted 14/10/2025 at 00:04:34
To me he's comparable to me as I've always put myself forward to Hollywood as the next Paul Newman, but I'll let you all know when I get an offer.
Me and others aplenty know all about old Davey's determination to repeatedly accept massively enhanced contracts from that lying sleazebag Kenwright, whilst the latter oversaw our perpetual seasons where we never looked like winning a trophy and descended to where we are now.
What sort of a statement is Friedkin willing to announce to us true fans regarding his personal ambition for what Moysey's hitherto useless son has thus far achieved in his hitherto useless career?
Or did Friedkin's parents, or he himself, receive the very best tickets for West End shows buckshee when Kenwright was alive?
Young Moysie seems devoid of talent, therefore I'd expect someone way senior to his dad to explain this to us mere fans.
Kenwright was the epitome of unaccountability.
Is Friedkin just the same?
71 Posted 15/10/2025 at 01:22:35
As I thought, zero evidence for your claim that Davide got his job as head coach of Botafago as a result of his dad. Just pure bullshit in fact.
Let's have it right, this appointment stinks and would never happen at a serious club. Could you imagine Liverpool or Arsenal doing this?
We are obviously not a serious club yet.
72 Posted 15/10/2025 at 09:44:30
By the way I was being interviewed as a person who could “ help the bizzie with his inquiries” not as a perpetrator of the crime, help him ? I knew the questions before he asked them and he knew, as daft as he was, the answers I was going to give him.
73 Posted 15/10/2025 at 10:35:05
David was apparently unaware of the appointment which was made by TFG but it is believed he was surprised and delighted for Mrs Moyes adding "She makes a lovely brew"
Mrs Moyes for the last 3 months has been making her finest Brodie's Earl Grey every Sunday for the ladies club whose membership has unfortunately dwindled from 100 to 3.
Mrs Moyes will be tasked with bringing her niche Brodie's Earl Grey to the staff at Everton as very few will have tasted it before and the hierarchy sees it as an untapped market for which Everton can be a leading force Worldwide for their tea.
Questions have been raised on Mrs Moyes due to her limited suitability for the role and claims that her husband's status was a driving force behind her appointment.
Thankfully however Mrs Moyes has wiped all those accusations away through her impressive bio on LinkedIn
"I have sourced and made my own tea from scratch from every part of Scotland. I have previously plucked and withered and dried and brewed thousands of buds and leaves myself and developed my own system detailing the entire process which is the pride of Scotland.
Moreover I have served tea to the likes of Alex Ferguson, Dan Friedkin, the Pope, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis and Moses".
Everton football Club warmly welcome Mrs Moyes in depth skill set to our high end tea department
74 Posted 15/10/2025 at 11:02:25
If he worked in the butchery department at Morrisons Supermarket, prior to this move, I could understand your problems.
If he has worked in professional football, what is the problem.
How many on here have taken up employment in a business, that a mate or family member helped you get the job ?
75 Posted 15/10/2025 at 11:29:06
And its good news for Davide getting a gig with a Brazilian club, what with his Dad already being the Brazil manager, isnt it?
Anything else you need help with or can I get on with my day?
76 Posted 15/10/2025 at 11:39:56
I have to say I'm more relaxed about this, than previous pay outs. I'm thinking the twenty million for Ancelotti, the fifteen million for Benitez, the ten million for Allardyce, the ten million for Lampard, plus all their entourages. None of whom were here for for more than 18 months.

80 Posted 15/10/2025 at 00:00:34
In the real world 'influence' might 'get' you the job - but performance will determine how long you keep it.
...and then there's football.
81 Posted 16/10/2025 at 06:36:31
Wee Davie has been ” tasked with scouting in a very specific part of Europe (LOL), with Moyes keen to widen his net on the continent.”
If he cannot find talent in Northern Finland, he can alway wash cups and serve tea for his Ma. Which is probably what he was doing last week.
