According to reports in Spain, Everton are now looking to sign Conor Gallagher with competition expected from Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Man Utd.

On 21 August 2024, Atlético Madrid announced that they had signed Conor Gallagher from Chelsea on a 5-year contract. The transfer fee was reported by The Guardian to be in the region of £34M.

But the England international has struggled to get regular games, starting just three in La Liga so far this season. This means he must be ready for a return to the Premier League in an attempt to secure his World Cup place in the England team. And what better place to do that than alongside Jack Grealish at the Hill Dickinson Stadium?

Atletico Madrid are reportedly wanting around €60M (£53M) to sell their midfielder this winter.

A relative failure without a good run of games under his belt is now worth £19M more 16 months later!

This will not happen.

They can demand more because he is tied to a long-term contract. However they want rid probably for financial purposes so, unless there is a bidding war, they will probably settle for around their money back.

Gallagher would be a great addition with his physicality, running power and has an eye for a goal. However, we need more important areas addressed first and, if going for a midfielder, ideally it should be a defensive one.

He appeared to be a better player when on loan at Palace and could score goals. Not sure he is international class, but if certain players get injured, he may find himself in the squad.

They will struggle to get £50M, but a club may sort out a loan deal with a chance to buy at the end of the season.

Listening to Moyes, he seemed disappointed that he could not bring other players to Everton in the Summer, apparently they kept turning down the chance to join us. He is hoping now and using Grealish as an example.

And now with Everton in the top half of the Premier League, he can convince other players to join us. Let's face it, we have a small squad and competition for places always helps.
