Everton owners ready to back David Moyes with £150m in the transfer market
Everton are ready to back David Moyes with ambitious summer transfer plans, according to Miguel Delaney of The Independent.
According to the report, Moyes is insistent on signing a right winger, an attacking midfielder, a central midfielder and a right back after having signed striker Thierno Barry and goalkeeper Mark Travers.
James McAtee of Manchester City is believed to be a priority, although they are expecting fierce competition from several top European clubs, most notably Eintracht Frankfurt.
“Other options for Everton are Juventus' Douglas Luiz, Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche and Freiburg's Merlin Rohl in midfield, Real Sociedad's Takefusa Kubo on the right, and Panathinaikos' Georgios Vagiannidis for right-back,” the report added.
However, Vagiannidis is currently linked with a move to Sporting Lisbon, and the Portuguese club are believed to be leading the race to sign him.
Everton’s new owners have full faith in Moyes after the way he guided the Blues to 13th place in the league following his appointment in January, when the club were dangerously close to getting dragged into a relegation battle.
There’s a feeling that they are ready to make a major financial statement to usher in a new era at the Hill Dickinson Stadium after years of frustration and financial uncertainty.

If it's the case, then we should be signing top quality players.

Somewhat undermines the credibility of this report, imo.

It wouldve been £6.5m for the 3 and massive wages.
Not sure if it wouldve moved us on but you never know.
Point being. The money if it is available needs to be spent sensibly. If the signing doesnt move the club forward. Dont make it.

We must sign a right back and right winger, plus improve the midfield so 4 players minimum.
Personally, I think signing players we would not normally consider simply because they are on a free is not the way to go - that is pre-TFG thinking. We don't need to do that any more.
Better to be patient and source players who can develop over time. Hopefully we will see the progress in this over the next 4 weeks.

Just cos the Friedkins have leaked this budget doesn't really enable us to suddenly go and get good players. If we put a bid in, the player's agent will be thinking 'yes, if nobody else comes in maybe Everton at the end of the window'. All this stuff about McAtee and the others is just pie in the sky.

The only possibility is that we sell the women's team and Goodison for a combined £100M but even then I wouldn't expect TFG to want to spend all of that in one transfer window.

We have not been good at this for a number of years, hence losing out on players to competing clubs perceived to have more ambition, more opportunities for game time etc.
It's difficult for us as Evertonians to recognise or accept that it would be preferable for some young ambitious players to choose other clubs for their future development, but nevertheless it is happening and will continue to happen until the club can achieve some success.
This will be a long and difficult process given the position we are in at the moment. With this in mind, I think we will need to tailor our expectations accordingly. Some marquee signings if possible backed up by journeymen loans and free agents.
Sorry to disappoint, but that is Everton's reality at the moment despite TFG's millions.

Worse case scenario or risk management?

"So, whilst we can blow the likes of Burnley out of the water"
Didn't one of our alleged targets, or at least a fan favourite, sign for Burnley?

If we can sign Luiz, it'll be a tremendous start.

None of these types of moves will happen early in the window and so clubs like Everton will be hanging out to try and sign some quality players on the cheap as a loan for one season.
We have 4 loan slots and I expect them to not be finalised right until the end of the window. At which point it will be the first international break before we feel like we have a team starting to bed in.

Blackburn passed us off the pitch yesterday with the type of quick, incisive passing football we haven't produced for years.
